Benjamin Torres-Ramos drove by his home this morning and wasn’t comfortable enough to stop.

There was a race car in his driveway, a massive truck on the street outside his Alberta home and dozens of strangers already as familiar with his new residence as he was.

He knew why they were there, but he still couldn’t believe it: NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin and his pit crew, along with representatives from the Salvation Army and FedEx, were unloading appliances and furniture for the new home that replaced the one that was destroyed in the April 27 tornado last year.
