Typically the focus in Sprint Cup Series practice is what happens with the fastest cars.
But on Friday at Pocono Raceway, one of the most intriguing stories came from the car that struggled the most.
First things first: Sprint Cup Series points leader Dale Earnhardt Jr. led the final Cup practice session with a lap of 177.441 mph. He was followed by Matt Kenseth (176.974), Greg Biffle (176.724), Kyle Busch (176.594) and Carl Edwards (176.391).
On the other side of the speed chart, John Wes Townley, who has struggled in more than 50 races in the Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series, was preparing to make his debut this weekend at the 2.5-mile speedway.
