Meet NASCAR’s newest female race car driver

Cassie Gannis is proud to represent the valley and women in this weekend NASCAR race. She loves being able to race in her back yard, and is proud to be the only woman in her race.

NASCAR is at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale this weekend.

In the pit for practice time, the fast cars roar by. The sound and the speed makes your heart race and adrenaline rush.

But inside number 22, college student Cassie Gannis is calm and cool. Her nerves are at ease even when topping speeds of 130 mph.

Great to see another female joining the ranks of NASCAR drivers in the top two series. Joanna Long is doing well in Nationwide and in Sprint Cup as well. Danica is also doing well IMHO for someone who was tossed into this circus a year ago.
