Jeff Gordon captured the pole position in his No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet for Sunday’s Aaron’s 499 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway, the 71st of his career. The pole marked the 20th consecutive season in which Gordon has won at least one pole; and he is now tied with David Pearson for the longest streak of all-time. The milestone also ranks him third in the all-time list of pole-winners. Gordon turned a lap of 49.973 seconds, 191.623 mph.
