According to a couple of Wallace family Twitter accounts, namely those of Kenny Wallace and Steve Wallace, Steve Wallace will make a return to NASCAR Nationwide Series competition at Richmond International Raceway on April 27.
“YES Rusty (Wallace, Steve Wallace’s father/car owner and Kenny Wallace’s brother) and Steven will be racing at Richmond in 2 weeks with RWI (Rusty Wallace Inc.) back by popular demand,” Kenny Wallace tweeted recently.
Steve Wallace formerly raced full-time in the series, driving a No. 66 entry for RWI, but Rusty Wallace opted to temporarily cease racing operations at the end of 2011, due to a lack of sponsorship. Last year’s sponsor on the 2011 car, 5Hour Energy, moved to Michael Waltrip Racing to sponsor the No. 15 Sprint Cup Series entry there, driven by Clint Bowyer.
RWI also fielded a car last year for Michael Annett. At the end of 2011, Annett moved to Richard Petty Motorsports and took his Pilot sponsorship with him.
