As both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and NASCAR Nationwideseries both head to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend, several former New Jersey residents are making news. One will be looking to continue, if not improve on, a very solid start to the 2012 season, while another will replace a very popular driver, and yet another will move from atop the pitbox of Dale Earnhardt Jr. to try to help a young, but talented driver.

When you talk about NASCAR and New Jersey in the same sentence you have to mention Martin Truex Jr. The Mayetta, New Jersey native currently sits third in the NASCAR Sprint Cup points standings, behind Dale Earnhardt Jr. in second, and only 18 points behind early season leader Greg Biffle. With every passing week this is looking more and more like the type of season he envisioned when he joined Michael Waltrip Racing. He, and his NAPA Toyota team, are not only fast, and consistent, they also seem to have good luck on their side this season.

Martin, however, is not the only Truex making news at Texas. His younger brother Ryan will be replacing Kenny Wallace this week in the RAB Racing number 09 Toyota in the Nationwide race on Friday night. While Wallace is incredibly popular for his variou television appearances, the team has been unable to secure sponsorship for him.
