Top Gear, the world’s biggest car show, sent host Richard Hammond to Texas Motor Speedway, fully immersing the native-Brit in the world of NASCAR.

During his visit to Texas, Hammond explored the history of NASCAR and discovered how the sport evolved into the spectacle that it is today. He also discussed American motorsport culture and learned what it’s like to be behind the wheel of a machine running 800-850 horsepower from those who know best — Sprint Cup Series stars Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Juan Montoya. Hammond even got a driving lesson from Kyle Petty, former driver and son of Hall of Famer Richard Petty.
